The Perils of Playing with A Nintendo Wii
Is the Nintendo Wii the most dangerous computer games console of all time? Well, you've no doubt heard or seen some of the news stories that advocate it probably is. The physical risk issue stems from the manner you operate the game controller that comes with the console.
In an effort to generate a more real way of affecting the onscreen action, Nintendo have given you a controller that you manage around as you play. So, for example, if you were playing a computerized game of tennis, you would swing the controller as if it were a tennis racket in a authentic game of tennis. This introduces a great deal better interactivity and nearly all players have reacted very approvingly to this.
This fresh means of using the game controller is positively distinctive to the Nintendo Wii and makes it stand out from the current crop of computer gaming consoles, but it has caused troubles - and even physical injury - to a minority of users who've failed to apply the correct level of concern.
Injuries caused by the use of the Nintendo Wii fall mainly into two categories: 1) Injuries to players themselves straining muscles etc. that they aren't used to using, and 2) Injuries to innocent bystanders who've been whacked in numerous parts of their anatomy by flailing games players and flying controllers.
If you would like to put a stop to injury to yourself from playing games on the Nintendo Wii then you ought to use a warm up routine akin to that practiced by an sportsperson. Don't snicker! Perhaps it does sound rather stupid to be warming up physically ahead of playing computer games but, seriously, a system of stretching exercises ahead of playing will make sure that your body is warmed up properly and will assist avoid strained muscles, ligaments and tendons.
To put a stop to injury to yourself if you're in the area of a Nintendo Wii player, the best thing you can do is to stand as far out of harms way as possible. If you're the player and there are others sharing the room with you then just exercise realistic caution. A bit of common sense is more often than not all it takes to avoid accidents.
On of the commonest causes of Nintendo Wii injuries is failing to make certain that the strap that goes all-around your wrist from the games controller is right secured. An unsecured Nintendo Wii games controller can without doubt slip out of your grip and crash into someone.
You should make sure to ensure the games controller wrist strap at recurrent intervals and get a replacement if the original shows any signs of wear and tear.
As long as you adhere to the above tips and use due vigilance when playing with your Nintendo Wii, your computer game playing should be as pleasing and safe as possible.
Transformers 2: Revenge Of The Fallen Autobots Wii A Big Hit
Transformers 2: Revenge of The Fallen Autobots, well by now nearly everyone on the planet has heard of this new release movie and if they haven't seen it yet, they are probably anxiously awaiting their trip to the theater to see this movie, which is more spectacular than the first. Based on the Transformer toys made by Hasbro, these bots are making their encore performance on the big screen and fans both young and old could not be happier about their return.
The game, based on the second movie, was released simotaniously with the movie cause a movie frenzy that has not been seen for a long time. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Autobots Wii gives you the choice to pick an Autobot or a Deception. No matter what you decide on you have the ability to fly and blast through many intense, high pressure levels. The game has an age rating of 12 and up, and is fun for adults and teens alike.
The game also offers a large range of Transformer characters to choose from, each with a specific personality, ability and weapon. If you decide to save the world or annihilate it, you gaming experience will still include intense action and a variety of missions.
This games has changed formats since the original game release in 2007. It focuses less on open world play, and more on structured mission play. Although the missions are structured, however, they can vary depending if you take the side of good or evil.
There are great character choices, you can choose to be your favorite characters from the big screen like Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and Ironhide or pick one of the newer characters. Either way you wont be disappointed. This game allows you to unlock missions, allowing you to decide the order you desire the second time around. And with the added choice of Autobot or Decepticon, you can play this game over and over again, each time with a whole new gaming experience. Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen Autobots Wii, is by far going to be just as popular as the movie itself as word about this game gets out, I am sure it will become more difficult to get your hands on. In fact, it will probably be one of the most sought after games of the holiday season.
Wii Fit Is Fun
Wii Fit isn't really a game, it's an interactive program designed to help you move and track the time you do move. It leans into the fitness realm but it's not going to take the place of regular workouts and making good food choices. It will help you enjoy the time you work with it as it's an enjoyable way to move.
It starts out by using your Mii in the game and determines your size and weight. It then reflects its findings to your Mii. My Mii puffed up and got a lot chubbier than when I first designed it. It was a little depressing, but it was only supposed to help me visualize what I was trying to do. Then the game takes you through a series of exercises like walking and step aerobics and balancing and then you can unlock some fun little mini games like ski jumping and tight rope walking. These games all have something to do with balance and agility.
Most of the exercises are not hard, so that most people can participate, but that's not true of the yoga. It is fairly difficult for someone with no yoga background. As you choose different games it maintains a clock and memory of what you've done. As you participate in different exercises it opens more games and activities for you to try.
The board that comes with Wii Fit is used for many different things, it starts by doing the weight and balance thing. Then you use it different ways for different games, it's not to jump on but to stand and step. It measures your leaning in games like snowboarding, skiing and skateboarding, and if you're too far you'll crash.
There are some cool mini games on Wii Fit, but I think that my favorite is the ski jump, where you ski down a long ramp; keeping yourself centered on the board and then pushes off at the end of the ramp to get as much altitude and distance as possible. It is kind of addicting and I kept finding myself trying to break my own distance record. It actually has benefits because it replicates an exercise called a squat.
LEGO Has Done It Again With Their Batman Game
My kids, and myself have been a fan of the LEGO video games since the first LEGO Star Wars game out. Now with the new LEGO Batman game, it it clear that LEGO has made another excellent game.
The graphics, especially the vibrant, clear colors in high definition on the PS3 are gorgeous. They are probably the best looking of all the games in the series. The game play remains basically the same for this installment, and that's okay. There is no reason to make drastic changes to something that works.
It is a very accessible game to any level of gamer and it is not inappropriate at all. The cartoonish mischief and look of the characters makes it a title that the whole family can play. It is good for younger gamers who don't know anything about the Batman legend, and is fun for players that have been fans of the Caped Crusader for a long time.
There are numerous extras and hidden characters. Holding true to the LEGO game play, you have the ability to switch out characters making for a fun two player experience. All your classic Batman characters are in the game, and there are many not so well known characters from the comic books included.
It digs deep into the mythology of the franchise and as a fan I am thankful that they put so much effort into the development of the game. I know that his wont be the last in the Lego series; in fact I read just this weekend that they are developing a Rock Band game around the Lego characters. That is another good way to bring the younger gamers, who may not have had any interest in the music games, into the genre. These games aren't supposed to be world changing or particularly difficult, but they are supposed to be fun and that is why I like these games so much, because they are fun, for kids and adults alike.
Wii Introduces Super Smash Bros
A new game from Wii is exciting even the hard core gamers who usually aren't Wii active. It's called Super Smash Bros and it is doing very well. It includes all of the favorite Nintendo characters, who all have their own special warrior skills. This game has numerous characters and if you progress, you'll unlock them as you go.
It includes all of the levels and stages you would expect plus some extra locals, but you can also create your own levels and share them. This can be played alone or with up to four players using the WiFi, and this is the most fun way to play, lots of competition.
The games is $50 but includes an unbelievable completely different adventure game. This game has its own story and unknowns to be unlocked. It also can be played alone or with friends, and is amazingly long and complex for an add on. For any other developer it could be a whole different game but you get your money's worth with Nintendo.
All in all, this is probably the best version of the Smash Bros. games to date. It also is the prettiest, with the colors and animations standing out in widescreen and looking beautiful. This is a fun and value packed release and fans of the series have been rewarded for their patience in waiting for this one. Starting an online match is very easy as the game will match you with players from around the world and it runs just as smoothly as playing with friends in the same room.
I still can't believe how much game they packed onto this one disc, it really is a marvel and a real value if you are looking to get tons of re-playability out of a game. This is the best in the series and should not be missed.
Rockin’ It in a Whole New Way – Rock Band 2
In the original Rock Band game, adapted the concept of Guitar Hero and expanded it to include drum sets and vocals. Rock Band 2, for the Wii, brought it to a whole new level and is sure to gain more fans than ever. With customizable features and excellent online integration, Rock Band II will be enjoyable for any rock stars at heart.
A feature that you will get in Rock Band 2, that was not available in the original, is the ability to customize your lead singer, however you choice. There are various options for hair, skin, facial features, tattoo and much more.
As you advance through the levels in Rock Band 2 you begin to earn money, which can then be used to purchase better instrument for the team. This is a well welcomed addition, as the only thing, in the original games, that leveling up did was unlock songs.
Rock Band II has eighty preloaded songs for players to choose from. The selection extremely diverse, ranging from "Eye Of The Tiger" to "Spirit In The Sky". Some modern releases include At The Disco and System Of A Down are also included. Additionally, new releases can be purchased for Rock Band II via the Wii's wireless Internet connection.
Even after you have played the game for a while you can still enjoy fresh songs, due to the downloading feature. New songs are added frequently, allowing players to have something to look forward to.
Finally, Rock Band II allows players to receive a code for their band. By inputting this code on the Rock Band 2 website, players can create additional online content for their band. They can even order t-shirts and bumper stickers featuring the band that they created in Rock Band II; now that is interactivity at its finest.
Bioshock
Bioshock has become a video game hit. The Xbox360 game sold extremely well and was a certified hit for the system and just recently, Playstation 3 owners finally got the chance to play this awesome game a few months ago. There has been a sequel in the works for some time and the excitement and anticipation for the second game in the series is growing with every leaked screenshot and tidbit of information.
The initial offering had a great blend of shooter, horror and puzzle mixture. There was a lot of darkness and the sounds were very spine tingling. As you search the disaster of the underground city of Rapture, there is all this awful screaming all around, and there's the feeling that reality is suspended.
The utopia, the perfect civilization has been a dream of man for centuries, and philosophers have spoken of this perfect place. One man had the foresight, the know-how, the vision to make it happen and he built that city under the sea where it couldn't be touched by the imperfect governments and countries of so called civilized man. He gave the residents the freedom to do what they wanted; the scientists had nothing stopping them from their creations.
The player walks into this scenario, you must discover Rapture with all it's mysteries and horrors and try to solve it. As you attempt to find the solution there are dark hallway, enemies, traps and giant protectors to threaten you along the way.
It is one of the most exciting, action packed games that I have played in a long time and the upgrade system and weapon system is one of the most fun I've seen in a while. The controls are intuitive and the graphics are amazing. It really starts to show the power of the PS3. The sequel will release late this year and will undoubtedly be a huge hit.
