Enjoy Video Games Again With The Nintendo Wii Console

There was a brief period, somewhere in the time of Super Mario Brothers and Ms. Pac Man, when video games were fun for the whole family. Then the graphics got better, the some more intense, and the games more and more intricate. Today, most people simply can't comprehend how teenage powers can sit and stare at the screen for so long with only the movement of their thumbs betraying the fact that they are still alive. For so many people it is difficult if not impossible to connect the movement of our thumbs to what is happening on the screen. Even if we can manage it, it takes all the fun out of playing a game because we have to concentrate so hard to be any good. This has all changed since the advent of Nintendo's Wii gaming system. Now people who had never played a video game are enjoying them on a regular basis. This is all because of the innovation of the Nintendo Wii Console.

It is difficult to control fast paced actions on a screen if you can only use your thumbs and a few buttons. It is a skill that can take years to learn and most people would rather spend their time doing something else. However, that also means that there is a huge video game market that is completely untapped. That is also where the Nintendo Wii console stepped in.

The Wii gaming system isn't really much to look at. You get a console that has a slot of disks, ostensibly DVDs or CD-ROMs. You also get two controllers that look a lot like a TV remote control with a strap at one end and few less buttons. That is really it. However, this wireless technology is perfect for accomplishing what needs to be done on the Wii.

Instead of controlling the action on the television by pressing buttons in a specific sequence, you control the action through the movements of your body. For instance, if you are playing Wii's tennis game you are encouraged to hold the Wii controller like a tennis racket and move your body and arm as if you were playing tennis.

In Wii Sports, for example, there is bowling, baseball, tennis, and many more games. You actually act as if you are hitting tennis balls or baseballs in order to get points and win the game. You can play against the computer or against a real person.

There is also an addition to the basic Wii console called the Wii Fit. This is a special game controller that looks like a small step. You use it to play a number of different games that are geared at increasing your stamina, strength, and balance. Again, your body is moving naturally and what you see on the screen is a direct result of all your movements, not just the power of your thumbs.

This is just one more way that Wii has brought gaming to people who would have never otherwise experienced it. In nursing homes, for example, the tenants are able to play their favorite sports games, such as golf and bowling, on the Wii even though they can no longer get out and play the games for real anymore.

The Nintendo Wii console is truly a break-through in the world of gaming. It shows people that video games are really for everyone. At the same time it may also get traditional gamers off of the couch and up playing games with the rest of their family. The innovative and intuitive movement system of the Nintendo Wii makes video games accessible to people of all physical and age levels.
